Grandparents Day

Grandparents Day is September 7th.  Invite a Grandparent to church or Grandparents invite a grandchild to worship with you at church.  We will have fun being together, but most important, we will be doing what we are called to do.

Quilting Group

The quilting group will begin on September 3rd at 9:00 AM in the workroom

Southern District Women's Fellowship Meeting

The Virlina District Southern Area Women's Fellowship will meet on Sunday, September 13th 2008 at Copper Hill Church of the Brethren.  Registration and fellowship begins at 9:30 AM with the meeting to follow at 10:00 AM.  Sarah Ann & Laird Bowman will present a program concerning their experience on a disaster trip to Mississippi in March.

Deacons and Care Team

Deacons and Care Team will be having their potluck Monday evening, September 15th at 7:00 PM in the Fellowship Hall.

Sunday School

If you have been thinking about coming to Sunday School, this is a great time to start.  The new quarter for Sunday School classes begins August 31.  Come, discuss, learn, be challenged, "stir up the gift of God that is within you...For the Holy Spirit, God's gift, does not want you to be afraid of people but to be wise and strong, and to love them and enjoy being with them.  If you will stir up this inner power, you will never be afraid to tell others about our Lord..." 2 Timothy 1:6-8.

Have Fun Reading

Do you like to Read?  There is a really fun group that meets every second Wednesday from 11:30 to 1:30 to eat and discuss a book.  We all take turns hosting in our homes and read the same book to discuss.  Sometimes we go to plays or have a movie day or go to a special restaurant.  If you would be interested in joining us, please contact Katrina Vaden.

 Hunger Auction

The 25th World Hunger Auction we had on August 9th was a great time.  Everyone seemed to enjoy the fellowship, good food and especially the auction.  To date the proceeds are $30,774.40.  With some mail-in contributions our year to date totals of all proceeds have crossed $50,000.  God Bless each one that had a part in this great events.
